You may have heard some recent radio ads aired locally about IVF.  The ads are for a program often referred to as "shared risk" or "guaranteed IVF".  These types of programs offer patients a package of IVF services at a prepaid price which is typically several times the cost of a single IVF cycle.  The advantage of these programs is that a patient can keep trying IVF typically for 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles without paying each cycle.  The end point is either a pregnancy or the patient gets most or all of the initial fee back.  To put it simply they either get a baby or most of their money back!  Thus the program shares the cost   with the patient.  Naturally not all patients are candidates for this program.  Most programs accept reasonable candidates such as women less than 35 years of age.

    We have offered such a program now for 3 years and have had excellent success with it.  We have been reluctant to advertise it for several reasons.  First our one cycle success rates have sky rocketed recently.  We are not sure that it is in most patients interest to pay for several cycles when it is highly likely for them to conceive in one cycle!  The second reason is that it may delay therapy while the patient saves for the cost giving them ultimately a worse prognosis. 

    Here are the facts.  Clinical pregnancy rates per fresh IVF cycle now exceed 50% in our program for the best candidates.  Clinical pregnancy rates for frozen embryo transfers which offer the patients a low cost second chance  now are 40 -50% in our program.  The costs in our program have all been held down due to distribution of fixed cost over a high number of cycles.  Our costs are much less than the national average.  Typical approximate costs are as follows for our program:

Single Fresh IVF cycle:                   $6,600  plus meds and cost                                                         of ICSI if needed

Frozen embryo cycle:                     $2,700 plus meds

Money Back IVF Guarantee:           $22,500 plus meds for our existing patients,or $24,000 plus meds for new patients. This package includes The cost of ICSI if needed.  Not all programs are the same.  Some charge extra for ICSI and other services in addition to the baseline fee.
